I personally feel that there wouldn't be equality between man and woman no matter how the world has evovled through the centuries. Women nowadays have more rights and freedom as compared to last time. Women can work like men do. that's some sort of equality. Women can do the things which are supposedly men's chores. Then why god created adam and eve? there's alr inequality rite from the start. men are physically stronger than women, that's something which we cant acheive equality in.i'm not saying woman are inferior to man but man and woman are indeed indifferent physically or mentally.

Then how to achieve equality when man and woman are different right from the start?

Weesing: good point. Men and women are different to begin with. For example, women not be able to match up to men in physical strength.

Yalun: Which brings us to yalun's point -- what "equality" are we talking about?

Peixuan: You are refining the issue, which is a GOOD thing. You recognise the fact that men and women are different. But that is no reason they are TREATED differently.

Changzee: it is important for this group to decide what "equality" we are talking about.

    For example

at the workplace -- women are given two months maternity leave. this is being very fair to them.

BUT -- from the employer's point of view? they "lose" a productive worker for two months. they have to plan for people to take over their work. Or they have to train someone else to take over their work. All these mean money.

This is just the tip of the ice-berg. there are many examples of APPARENT inequality.

I am a female myself but I find it hard to justify equality between men and women.

I look forward to how this group might argue it out.

eLearning week is now officially over. If you choose to blog on to discuss more with your group members, do go on. This will definitely help you in your discussion café.

I would be still accessing this whenever I can.
