    Nice start, AC.
Good use of statistics too. Glad you are using supporting details to substantiate your point.

I sense some verbal agression here! :)

Both of you have valid points. Let me summarise.

Syuaib -- I don't think "capitalising" is the right word. But I do agree with you that it is so much easier to give up hope. And like you mentioned, discharging responsibilities is definitely simpler than bearing a heat-breaking burden.

AC-- you are right too. The patients themselves might want the liberation from pain.

In my view, Euthanasia should be legalised. Like how AC had state the treatment is very costly and the miracle of the patient waking up is very slim.
I agree that if it your loved one lying there, you want to have hope that he/she will wake up again. But to me, it's about facts, if he/she can't make it, let it go.

    Hi audrey

    good point.

I think the crux is, at what point do we determine that the patient cannot make it?

when he/she is unconscious? when he/she is bedridden? when he/she is in pain?

YES!i think euthanasia should b legalised!who would bear to see their loved ones suffer? I find that if a person is leading a life of misery with no hopes of recovery, a medical and social enquiry should be allowed.Prior to disconnecting the patient's life support equipment, family members should put it down in black and white to make sure that everyone's sure about this decision.Doctors should make it perfectly clear to family members about the consequences of their actions and that they cannot be held responsible for undue repercussions for this is the final decisions of the family members.

I think for euthanasia, the patient has the final right to say if he wants to die.

audrey's group -- could you check up on how euthansia really works? i.e if the family members have any say?

but if the patient is in coma. How can they have the final say?!

    Here's the wikepedia's definition.
There are many sub-sets of defnition. So, be very sure which one(s) you are disucssing.

Hmmm...by the way, shouldn't this group be providing the definition (instead of me)?

eLearning week is now officially over. If you choose to blog on to discuss more with your group members, do go on. This will definitely help you in your discussion café.
I would be still accessing this whenever I can.
