I am enjoying how Syuaib is questioning Rus! Good job, Syuaib! :)
Rus, i think there IS research that children in two-parent families tend to be more successful.
However, you cannot claim that children can NEVER succeed without both parents. Also, it is NOT TRUE that single parents are forbidden to raise children.
And Syuaib, you are absolutely right to ask Rus for his source.
But my question to you is, "what exactly does the father or mother do that two adults of the same sex cannot do?"
HAHAHA! Rus and Syuaib comments are more funny when you picture them in your mind.
Okay, good parents to me is that the child doesn't need to worry for anything at all and has all the love that the parents can give. Hence, I agree that homosexual couples can make good parents. I have to disagree with Rus that the child maybe homosexual when they grow up because I believe that although the parents are homosexual, they would have taught the child about boy-girl relationship as well.
I agree with firey_snowy that children brought up by homosexual parents may not necessary be a homosexual as well. I shall leech an example from a child that is brought up with either one parent who is a criminal. Does that mean that the child will grow up to be a criminal as well? Not very likely right? In fact, in some well-known school such as RGS, RI and etc, there are students in there with one of their parents still in the cell. So we can see that even students with such family background still outstand among the cohort why can’t children that are brought up by homosexual couples? I disagree with Ethan hunt that “With homosexual as parents, there will still be the absence of the role of the opposite gender -- either the mother or the father. It would be like an orphan without one of the parent.” This circumstance also occurs to parents that divorce with children on hand to take care of. The absence of the opposite gender also exists and this has been happening since years ago. Does that mean these kids are orphan? They are far much better than orphan. Orphan lives without parents. They are usually not taken care by their own parents as well. In this case, homosexual couples involve the commitment of two person. In fact, children rise by homosexual couples are adopted. Now when we compare, they are orphans but being adopted by a loving homosexual couples who will love, care and take care of them wholesomely, which orphan’s situation is in a better shape? Lastly, good parents are not defined whether they are homosexual or heterosexual. It depends solemnly on their ability of bringing up a child that will contribute to the society in future. As long as the child is being cared, loved and well taken care of, the parents are considered good parents and so long as the above-mentioned responsibility is provided, who also can be good parents. Can’t homosexual couples be good parents?
i think homosexual couples can be good parents, but they must make sure they instill the correct values into their children. Because there might be a possiblity that their children may turn out to be a homosexual.
eLearning week is now officially over. If you choose to blog on to discuss more with your group members, do go on. This will definitely help you in your discussion café. I would be still accessing this whenever I can.
I disagree with the above statement namely because little children with pure innocence and curiosity, tend to take after their parents. An eg. would be if the parent starts scolding "bloody hell" constantly in front of the child, the child will soon start to use that phrase without knowing that its a vulgrity.
To cut things short, being good parents not necessary be just providing the basic necessities of life, it is also about inculcating the proper moral values and educating the child about this world. If homosexual couples cannot successfully teach their children the right path, then in no way they are good parents. Similarly norm parents find it hard to explain birds and bees to their children, pararell it with explaining homosexuality and you shall see the outcome.

Audrey and cheryl
good points!
looks like both of you have similar view -- gender does not determine parenting skill. what is more important is the ability to provide for the child.
Anyone thinks that homosexual partners will not be good parents?
